Al Marouf Council Hosts Haqiqi Azadi Event in Brea Park

On August 23, 2026, Al Marouf Council held its Haqiqi Azadi event at Brea Park, California. Despite the heat, those who truly champion justice and stand for the truth gathered to show their solidarity with Pakistan and its people. While smaller in scale compared to other large gatherings organized by Pakistani communities across Southern California, this event carried a distinct weight: it took courage to stand for truth and justice, especially when doing so was not the popular choice.

The program began with an Imam leading the congregation in dua and emphasizing the Islamic obligation of Amr bil Ma’ruf—commanding what is right and forbidding what is wrong. This set the moral tone for the day, highlighting the spiritual duty to speak out against injustice.

Following the opening prayers, the CEO of Al Marouf Council (AMC) welcomed the attendees and provided a brief history of the organization’s mission and journey. The Founder and Board Member then addressed the crowd, offering a critical perspective on Pakistan’s trajectory. He highlighted how decades of military occupation have derailed efforts toward a free, democratic Pakistan, stifling economic growth and robbing talented young Pakistanis of vital opportunities. Crucially, he underscored the severe human rights violations occurring under the current regime, noting how the systematic erosion of civil liberties, judicial independence, and press freedom has silenced dissent and punished those who dare to demand accountability.

The CFO followed with an organizational update and remarks regarding the council’s ongoing work. The event remained interactive as audience members were invited to share their own perspectives and feelings about Pakistan’s current state; speakers SA and DM stepped forward to voice their views, fostering a community dialogue rooted in shared concern.

Adding a civic dimension to the gathering, AY from CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) addressed the audience, encouraging greater engagement in civic activities throughout Southern California to strengthen the Muslim community’s political voice.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Tasneem Rahmani of House of Pakistan and the Muslim Leadership Council San Diego for hosting Al Marouf Council and steadfastly supporting the movement for democracy and freedom for Pakistan and Imran Khan. Their partnership underscores the growing coalition dedicated to restoring liberty and dignity to the people of Pakistan.

The event concluded with a moving performance by brother IK, who recited a heartfelt poem that encapsulated the spirit of resilience and hope for Pakistan, leaving the attendees with a sense of unity and purpose.

Al Marouf Council: Standing for Truth on Pakistan Day

Al Marouf Council expresses profound gratitude to the House of Pakistan in Balboa, San Diego, for inviting us to participate in their community event commemorating Pakistan Day. This collaboration allowed us to gather with our neighbors and fellow believers to honor a significant occasion while also engaging in honest dialogue about the realities facing our ummah.

We dedicated this gathering to discussing the persistent shadow of military rule in Pakistan since its inception in 1947. Acknowledging this history is not an act of division, but a necessary step toward healing and truth. It is often a difficult topic for many to confront, reflecting the broader challenge within our community of reconciling the harsh realities on the ground with the ideals we hold dear. Yet, silence in the face of injustice is never an option for those who seek righteousness.

The Almighty reminds us in the Holy Quran:

 “Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.”
 — Surah Ar-Ra’d (13:11)

This verse calls upon us to examine our own circumstances critically, to correct our mistakes, and to stand firmly for what is just. Faith demands action; it requires us to speak truth even when it is uncomfortable. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us:

“Be you the reformer of society, even if it is only by commanding good and forbidding evil.”
 (Paraphrased from various narrations emphasizing social responsibility)

Another noble Hadith emphasizes the importance of speaking out against tyranny:

 “The best jihad is a word of truth spoken to a tyrannical ruler.”
 — Sunan al-Tirmidhi

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the brave souls who stood with us on that day, braving discomfort to engage in meaningful discourse. Special appreciation goes to the House of Pakistan for fostering an environment where such vital conversations could take place. Together, let us continue to uphold justice, unity, and the true spirit of our faith.

Shura Council of Southern California’s 2026 Annual Banquet

behalf of GHC, it was an honor to stand in solidarity with Southern California’s vibrant Muslim community at the Shura Council of Southern California’s 2026 Annual Banquet.

We commend the Shura Council and all the dedicated advocates who came together to champion a shared vision of uplifting our communities, protecting civil liberties, and ensuring our region reflects the true diversity of Southern California.

Our organization is deeply concerned about reports of human rights violations and the imprisonment of political figures abroad, including the case of Imran Khan in Pakistan. Situations in which individuals face detention or legal action that may be influenced by political pressure or foreign involvement raise serious questions about due process, civil liberties, and democratic governance. We remain committed to advocating for human rights, transparency, and the fair treatment of all individuals, and we encourage continued international attention to these issues to ensure accountability and the protection of fundamental
